Why did we decide to carry LimeLife Sun Care Products at Interactive Heath Clinic?

LimeLife strives to create and provide optimal products for everyone especially when it comes to protecting your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays when you are having fun in the sun. LimeLife is Leaping Bunny-Certified cruelty-free and contains organic ingredients that make you feel good about what you are putting on your body.

LimeLife’s Perfect Sunscreen for body is a great mineral sunscreen that contains non-nano ingredients and is reef safe and broad spectrum. A lightweight formula protects without feeling greasy or heavy that can be frustrating, and the organic plant-based ingredients help to nourish and soothe sensitive skin.

For protecting your face, LimeLife has Perfect Sunscreen, a broad spectrum, SPF 30 sunscreen formulated with organic and plant-based ingredients and can also be used as a skin primer underneath your makeup.

Lips need sun protection too, which is why LimeLife’s Perfect Balm Sunscreen for Lips is a must during any sun related activities. The skin on our lips is very thin and can burn easily without realizing it until the damage has already been done and becomes tight and very sensitive. Made with SPF 30, hydrating oils including sunflower seed, shea butter and vitamin E help to protect against sun and wind too.

If you happen to get a little too much sun, forget to reapply or didn’t wear your barrier clothing and find you’ve had too much sun exposure, LimeLife’s After Glow is an excellent choice to calm and soothe with Lavender and Eucalyptus.

Store in your refrigerator for a refreshing skin treat!

What does SPF mean?

Sunscreen SPF (Sun Protection Factor) is a broad measurement of how much maximum sun protection you are receiving over a designated amount of time. For example, if you have a sunscreen that has an SPF of 15, this means that you will have up to 93% protection up to your skin burning point (for those skin types that are more fair and burn earlier than a skin type with more melanin, they would need to apply sunscreen more frequently to avoid burning).

  • Choosing the best sunscreen for your skin and exposure is an important part in sun care and skin health. ‘Reef Safe’ sunscreens do not contain harmful chemicals such as oxybenzone, octocrylene and octinoxate (three chemicals that have been shown to cause coral bleaching and also may be harmful to people if used over long periods of time.
  • When applying sunscreen, make sure you are reapplying every few hours that replaces the protection lost due to time, sweating, rubbing against fabrics and water sports.
  • It is best to find a sunscreen that does not contain synthetic perfumes which may cause skin sensitivities or allergic reactions.
  • Sunscreen does have an expiration date and should be thrown out when that expiration date has been met as it may lose its efficacy after that time.

How to Protect Yourself from UV rays

Other methods of sun care protection include barrier protection such as rash guard fabrics with UV protection, hats, and umbrellas. It is best to use a combination when enjoying outdoor activities with proper sunscreen (reapplying as needed) and barrier protection.
