Recently an article was published about the dangers of consuming coconut oil due to the saturated fat content. This information is skewed and confusing to the public.

Coconut oil has been consumed safely for years in moderation.

In my clinical experience patients currently consuming a ketogenic diet or modified ketogenic diet low in sugar and carbohydrates have much better cholesterol profiles and cardiovascular outcomes than high carbohydrate meals.

The larger issue is when a person is consuming high carbohydrates and in a high insulin environment along with high saturated fat intact. This high insulin, the high saturated fat environment generates a high oxidative environment and oxidized fats. Any environment in the body with high insulin is asking for damage to vessels and nerves. Thus the best strategy is high fats and many low starch vegetables.
