What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy, sometimes referred to as Cranial Sacral Therapy, or simply CST, is a physical medicine modality that uses a hands-on approach to detect and influence your body’s Cranio rhythm.

Everyone has their own unique cranio rhythm, which is the result of cerebrospinal fluid pulsation. The craniosacral practitioner is trained to become attentive to this extremely subtle rhythm with their hands, and then act to help your body release any restrictions that may be present within the system.

The CST practitioner gently works with the spine and the skull, with its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia. The goals are to ease the restrictions of nerve passages, optimize the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord, and restore misaligned bones to their proper position.

Craniosacral therapists use the therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and even chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.

CST is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that can have subtle or profound effects. The emphasis of treatment is to encourage and enhance the body’s own self-healing and self-regulating capabilities. The practitioner listens to the body and pays close attention to perceived patterns, assessing restrictions, noting any changes during the treatment, and adjusting their technique acordingly.

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle yet powerful treatment that has provided long-lasting relief and relaxation to many patients.
